Doing this activity will help your child improve hand-eye coordination while creating a pretty picture. Demonstrate how to pick up and place each cereal O carefully within the lines, pinching the O’s between the thumb and first two fingers. This is the grip used to hold a pencil, so practicing it strengthens the fingers in preparation for writing.
☞ What You Need:
Bowl of cereal O’s, colored construction paper, colored markers, white glue, colored yarn (optional)
✄ To Prepare:
Use the colored markers to draw a large flower on the construction paper.
Invite your child to follow these steps:
- (Optional) Glue colored yarn—green stem, yellow center, pink petals—over the flower outline.
- Glue the cereal O’s onto the petals and center of the flower.
- Let dry and display on a wall.
