The Book of Remembrance began, as many Paolini projects do, with a much smaller page count. It was conceived as a way to offer fans a meaningful prize in exchange for giving additional funds to address looming potential tariffs levied on the Saphira figurines.
Bryce O’Connor, CEO of Wraithmarked, pitched a few pages of depictions of historical battles set at different points in the history of Alagaësia. Christopher came back with over one hundred pages spanning seven battles, new canon for the World of Eragon. Bryce, full of ideas on how to make this project even better, debuted non-canon lists of the fallen featuring backer’s chosen names, both in Ullmark and in the Roman alphabet. Further, there are over thirty pieces of original art contracted from Luke Eidenschink, Chris J Alliston, and Augustinas Raginskis. And a couple pieces from Christopher Paolini as well!
Orders have closed for this limited project, but fans who didn’t get the chance to back the project will be delighted to discover that this is not their last opportunity to read Christopher’s latest in the World of Alagaësia! Penguin Random House will be publishing Tales from Alagaësia II, featuring Christopher’s canon material from The Book of Remembrance, as well as a ton more story exclusive to Tales 2. (Hint: fans will NOT want to miss this novel—so many easter eggs and reveals! SO MANY.)
