Journey Through the Beor Mountains

Our latest installment in the Art Desk series will take you on a journey from the skies above the Beor Mountains to one of the hidden entrances to Farthen Dûr.

Christopher often doodles to flesh out locations, events, or characters as he writes. While working on Eragon, he envisioned the ambience and scale of the Beors in these concept sketches:

The diagrams below illustrated the true size of Farthen Dûr— Alagaësia’s largest mountain—and its hidden city:

His colored pencil rendering of the dwarf capital, above, provided direction for the artist responsible for Tronjheim in Eragon’s Guide to Alagaësia:
