A Winged Lizard Concept Illustration

Last month’s Art Desk article explored the process behind the illustration of Aren, Brom’s ring, featuring reference photos, concept sketches, and the finished piece. Today’s illustration transports readers into the world of one of Christopher’s newer science fiction works. The piece depicts a winged lizard perched on a leaf.

Inspired by an image he found online, Christopher drew the lizard as a concept piece while writing a science fiction screenplay last year. Although this illustration reveals little about that project, it offers readers a glimpse into one of Christopher’s recent projects. In a video discussing his latest novel, Christopher cryptically referenced the screenplay, stating, “I also did a screenplay, which turned out to be a lot harder than I expected—no surprises there.”

Christopher’s Art Desk is an ongoing series on Paolini.net. Look for more installations in the future. And don’t forget to check out our Etsy print shop!
