Christopher teamed up with the folks at Grim Oak Press for two very special projects! From honoring an author who inspired his own journey to joining forces with peers for a vital cause, Christopher welcomed the chance to write for these two books.
Stepping Into the City of Golden Shadow
Christopher didn’t find Tad Williams‘ Otherland to be just a book. The lore inspired his own writing. Consequently, he jumped at the chance to create a new introduction for this stunning release of Otherland: City of Golden Shadow.

Grim Oak Press didn’t craft your average hardcover. Rather, they made an heirloom piece. They tailored this release for those who love the “big idea” sci-fi that Tad Williams pioneered.
- Triple-signed: Contains signatures from Christopher, Tad Williams, and artist Donato Giancola.
- The goods: Features six gorgeous full-color illustrations, bonded leather binding, and a sewn-in satin ribbon.
- Limited release: Furthermore, they limited this production to only 500 copies.
You can pre-order your copy now at Grim Oak Press.
A Mission of Support: The Unbroken Anthology
Christopher also contributed a story to Unbroken, a Grim Oaks Press Kickstarter project. More than just a collection of stories, this anthology came together as a community effort to support author Peter Orullian through significant medical challenges. Unbroken follows the tradition of the Unfettered series, and 100% of proceeds go directly toward helping a fellow author in the fantasy family.
Inside this massive 832-page tome, you’ll find a wide-ranging celebration of the genre:
- “Allies”: Christopher’s own short story. Set shortly after the events of To Sleep in a Sea of Stars, “Allies” gives a rare look at the immediate aftermath.
- A powerhouse lineup: This anthology brings together many of the most prominent voices in SF&F today. Christopher joins giants like Brandon Sanderson, Terry Brooks, and Jim Butcher, so you’ll get lots of new material!
- Kickstarter perks: The campaign went live! If you back a physical tier in the first 48 hours, you’ll even snag a Master Librarian Tarot card. As a result, everybody wins!

Both of these two books represent Christopher’s deep respect for the craft, the writers, and the readers that make it possible. Grab them while you can because once these limited-edition runs are gone, they’re gone for good!
