Fans are itching to get their hands on The Book of Remembrance, a new collection of short stories written by Christopher Paolini!
Our intrepid author wrote the material for the project as a way to help Wraithmarked Creative cover unexpected projected tariffs on their first collaboration with Christopher, the Saphira statue. And help he did! The Kickstarter campaign for The Book of Remembrance eclipses $1,000,000.
Each of the stories centers around a different battle scattered throughout the history of Alagaësia:
- The Defeat at Amaranth
- The Siege of Kvôth
- The Sack of Vroengard
- The Ambush at Stavarosk
- The Battle Under Farthen Dûr
- The Slaughter at Gil’ead
- The Fall of Urû’baen
Without giving too much away, there are so many easter eggs in this book. Even the most discerning of fans won’t want to miss out!
Details
Wraithmarked is pulling out all the stops for this beautiful project. It features at least thirty-three pieces of original art by three artists and gorgeously foiled leather and leatherette covers. Campaign backers are being assigned to the battles to be listed among the fallen by their name of choice. Backers in higher-level tiers grace some of the artworks as dragon riders of old as well as fallen commanders and warlords. Current Stage in Production
All artwork is completed for the project. The manuscript is currently being edited by Christopher’s long-time editor, Michelle Frey. Once any final adjustments are made, the book design will be finalized, and then everything will be sent off to the printers!
The Future
Pledging has officially closed for The Book of Remembrance, but if you were late to hear about this project, you still have a couple ways to dive in. Wraithmarked may have a limited number of copies available for purchase after all pledges have been fulfilled.
And . . . there will a different edition made in future years by none other than Penguin Random House, called Tales from Alagaësia II. It likely won’t feature the art Wraithmarked commissioned (unless PRH licenses it). And it won’t feature the names of the fallen. But there will definitely be a whole . . . lot . . . more to the story than there was in The Book of Remembrance. So much to look forward to!
